This is according to the SME Digital Growth Index 2025, a report by Webidoo Insight Lab that provides a comparative analysis of the evolution of digital maturity among SMEs across European Union countries.
Based on a robust methodological framework divided into five dimensions of digitalisation – Digital Presence, Digital Commerce, Technological Infrastructure, Research and Innovation, Digital Skills – the index provides a transparent, data-driven overview of the evolution of digital capabilities within the European Union and their impact on business competitiveness. This snapshot, whilst indicating overall growth, highlights how much work Italy still has to do on skills and innovation to bridge the gap with the most advanced countries.
